FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have placed FB James Develin on injured reserve.
Develin, 31, began his NFL career as a Cincinnati Bengals practice squad player from 2010-11 and was on the New England Patriots practice squad for the majority of the 2012 season before joining the Patriots 53-man roster for the final four games of that season. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder has appeared in 83 regular-season games with 31 starts over his seven-year career and totaled 15 rushing attempts for 26 yards and five touchdowns and 31 receptions for 222 yards. Develin has also appeared in 14 postseason contests with six starts and posted three rushing attempts for 5 yards and caught five passes for 29 yards and one touchdown.
Last season, Develin played in all 16 regular-season games with eight starts and rushed six times for 8 yards and a career-high four touchdowns a caught 12 passes for 61 yards. He also played in all three playoff games with two starts and rushed twice for 5 yards and caught one pass for 9 yards. Develin started the first two games of this season and was inactive for Sunday's win over the N.Y. Jets.
