FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed defensive lineman Ufomba Kamalu (ooh-FOM-ba -ka-MA-lu) to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Kamalu joined the New England practice squad on Nov. 5, 2018. In addition, the Patriots have signed OL Tony Adams to the practice squad.
Kamalu, 26, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Houston Texans out of Miami (Fla.) on May 6, 2016. The 6-foot-6, 295-pounder began his rookie season on Houston's practice squad before being added to the 53-man roster on Nov. 26. Kamalu appeared in 13 games with three starts for the Texans from 2016-17 and registered 11 tackles and three sacks. He was released by the Texans prior to the start of the 2018 regular season and has since had a brief stint on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.
Adams, 22, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a rookie free agent out of North Carolina State on July 23, 2018 and was released on Sept. 1. The 6-foot-1, 302-pounder made 35 starts at center and guard over four seasons for N.C. State and earned second-team All-ACC honors as a junior in 2016.
