FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed first-year LB Kobe Jones and rookie free agent LB Christian McCarroll. Terms of the contracts were not announced.
Jones, 26, has spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers after originally joining Atlanta as a rookie free agent out of Mississippi State in 2021. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder, most recently played in six games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League this past season. After going to training camp in 2021 with Atlanta, Jones spent time as a rookie on Miami's practice squad. He went to training camp with Tennessee in 2022 but was released at the end of training camp. Jones had stints on the practice squad with Green Bay and Carolina in 2022 and was elevated to the active roster for one game with each team. He was released by Carolina following training camp in 2023.
McCarroll, 25, played college football at Grand Valley State. The 6-foot-2, 253-pounder, played in 47 games during his career and finished with 151 total tackles, 15 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 forced fumbles. Last season, he was a consensus All-American and the conference defensive lineman of the year after finishing with 67 total tackles and 8 sacks.
